
Min Named DAC MVP, Richland Earns 14 Awards
DALLAS – Dallas College Richland men's soccer's Joseph Min was voted the Dallas Athletic Conference Most Valuable Player.
Thunderducks teammate Valerio Del Mastro received the league's Defensive Player of the Year honor. Jose Diaz was awarded the DAC Newcomer of the Year. Emmanuel Carmona was selected as the conference Goalkeeper of the Year. Raul Herrera was named the DAC Coach of the Year.
Min, Del Mastro, Diaz and Carmona joined Enrique Alvarez on the All-DAC First Team. Alan Rivera, Giuseppe Costantino, Aubry Eason and Daylan Lowe earned Second Team All-DAC honors.
A sophomore from Grand Rapids, Michigan, Min was credited with a league-high 15 goals and eight assists for 38 points in 12 games. Min had hat tricks in regular season wins at Dallas College Mountain View and against Nelson University Reserves. His seven points in the win at Mountain View are a season high. Min has four multi-goal games this year, scoring two in wins over Northeast Texas Community College and Paul Quinn College. He has six gamewinning goals entering next week's National Junior College Athletic Association Division III National Tournament in Batavia, New York.
A sophomore defender from Rome, Italy, Del Mastro has put up offensive numbers from the back line, scoring four goals, including a pair of game winners, and added an assist. He scored in four different games. Del Mastro also contributed defensively to Richland's nine shutouts this season.
A freshman forward from Houston, Diaz has scored eight goals, and added an assist for 17 points. He has two gamewinning goals. He had also had a hat trick in the win at Mountain View, and scored two goals in a win over Dallas College Cedar Valley. In both shutout victories, he recorded the game winners.
A sophomore from Toluca, Mexico, Carmona has a 0.43 goals against average, .891 save percentage and nine shutouts through 12 recorded games. His nine clean sheets are tied for first in the country. Carmona made 10 saves in the 6-0 shutout at Mountain View. He stopped seven shots in the 3-0 shutout of Hill College.
A sophomore midfielder from Dripping Springs, Texas, Alvarez has four goals and seven assists for 15 points. He had a goal and two assists in the win over Northeast Texas Community College, and added a goal and an assist in home wins over Mountain View and Ranger College.
A sophomore midfielder from Round Rock, Texas, Rivera has five assists. He had a season-high three helpers in the win at Mountain View.
A sophomore midfielder from Rome, Italy, Costantino has six goals, two assists and 14 points. He scored the gamewinning goal in 1-0 win over Western Texas College. Costantino scored a goal in each of the first three regular season matches, and had a goal and an assist for a season-high three points in the win at Cedar Valley to help the Thunderducks clinch the DAC regular season championship.
A sophomore forward from Frisco, Texas, Eason has two goals and two assists. He scored in the win at Cedar Valley, and found the back of the net again two games later in the victory over Mountain View to finish the league regular season schedule. He ended the regular season with a pair of assists in the win over Nelson.
A sophomore defender also from Frisco, Lowe helped key the nine shutouts. The Thunderducks put up three straight shutouts to begin September and five in a row from Sept. 25-Oct. 16. Lowe was part of a back line that recorded all four clean sheets in DAC regular season matches.
Herrera guided the Thunderducks to the DAC regular season title, completing another perfect season in conference play. Richland has won 24 straight DAC games under Herrera, extending the program's winning streak against conference opponents to 48 in a row. The Thunderducks captured the first NJCAA Division III South Division championship this year.
Richland (12-2-0) meets Raritan Valley Community College (10-3-3) in the NJCAA Division III quarterfinals 10 a.m. CT Tuesday at Genesee Community College. The NJCAA Network will broadcast the game. Live Stats are also available.
