Carmona Selected as National Goalie of Week
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland men's soccer's Emmanuel Carmona was selected as the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Goalie of the Week.
A sophomore from Toluca, New Mexico, Carmona stopped all 10 shots he faced in securing back-to-back shutouts last week. He had seven saves in a 3-0 win over NJCAA Division I Hill College. That came two days after he made three saves in a 6-0 win at Dallas College Cedar Valley as Richland clinched the Dallas Athletic Conference title in winning its 47th consecutive conference game.
Carmona (8-1-0) has a 0.46 goals against average and .897 save percentage. He ranks fourth in the nation in both categories and fifth in goals allowed this season (4). He has seven shutouts, including four in a row. His seven shutouts are second in the country.
The Thunderducks (8-1-0) play at NJCAA Division I No. 3 Tyler Junior College (11-0-2) at 7 p.m. Saturday. They host Ranger College 4 p.m. Monday.
Richland will host the NJCAA Division III South District Tournament Oct. 31-Nov. 1.
