Volleyball Opens Season Aug. 18
DALLAS – Dallas College Richland's volleyball team will open the season Aug. 18 at the Weatherford College Tournament, where the Thunderducks will play four matches beginning with Blinn College.
The Thunderducks, under new head coach Grace Wells, will play a 29-match regular season schedule with 11 home matches.
Following the Weatherford tournament, Richland will play a pair of road matches at Southwestern Assemblies of God University and Tyler Junior College prior to the Aug. 28 home opener versus Hill College. The Thunderducks wrap up August with a home match against Arlington Baptist University Aug. 30.
Richland visits Vernon College to begin September before hosting Jarvis Christian University's Junior Varsity Sept. 4. After completing a home-and-home with Hill College by paying a visit to Hillsboro, Texas, Sept. 6, the Thunderducks host Temple College Sept. 9.
In their second tournament of the season, the Thunderducks will play four matches at the Blinn Invitational Sept. 15-16. They will see the likes of Our Lady of the Lakes University Junior Varsity, College of DuPage, Blinn and John Melvin University in Brenham, Texas.
Two days later, Richland opens Dallas Athletic Conference play against Dallas College Cedar Valley at home. That begins a four-match homestand – the two at the tail end against nonconference foes Southwestern Assemblies of God and Henderson State University Junior Varsity on Sept. 23 in the Thunderduck Tri-Match.
Richland visits defending DAC champion Dallas College Brookhaven Sept. 25 and Dallas College North Lake Sept. 28 to close the month. The Thunderducks will end the first half of DAC play Oct. 2 at home against Dallas College Eastfield.
The second half of league play begins Oct. 5 at Cedar Valley. Richland hosts Brookhaven Oct. 12 and North Lake Oct. 16 in the final two home matches before the regular season finale at Eastfield Oct. 19.
