FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Dallas College Richland's volleyball team beat Dallas College North Lake, 25-19, 25-17, 25-19, in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Southwest District quarterfinals Wednesday at Dallas College Brookhaven.

Richland (10-27) advances to play Dallas College Cedar Valley (14-20) in Friday's 7 p.m. semifinals.

The third-seeded Thunderducks swept the Blazers for the second time in two weeks, and snapped a four-match losing streak in the process. Richland's last win coming into the match was a 3-0 sweep of North Lake on Oct. 10.

The Thunderducks hit .223 Wednesday, putting away 38 balls in 103 swings. The Blazers, who finished the season 6-24, hit .141 with 26 kills in 92 attacks.

Bailee Alexander pounded 16 kills, and hit .500 for the Thunderducks. Danielle Brown added 11 kills, 12 digs and an ace. Mia Arriaga finished with 35 assists, three aces and eight digs.

Richland ripped off 12 aces, including three each by Jackie Batres and Selah McDowell.

The Thunderducks hit .310 in the second set, taking a control of the match before putting it away to advance to the second round of the postseason tournament.

Richland split with Cedar Valley during the regular season in Dallas Athletic Conference play.
