Richland Volleyball Wins on Sophomore Night

Dallas College Richland's volleyball team swept Dallas College North Lake, 25-14, 25-15, 25-19, Monday on Sophomore Night.

The Thunderducks (9-23, 5-2 Dallas Athletic Conference) won their third match in the last four. It was Richland's fourth sweep of the season.

Jacelyn Penaloza, a defensive specialist from Rowlett, Texas, Bailee Alexander, an outside hitter from Little Elm, Texas, and Selah McDowell, a middle blocker from Grand Prairie, Texas, were honored as part of the Sophomore Night celebration.

Alexander finished with nine kills, while hitting .263. McDowell had four kills, an ace and a block. Alexandria Causey had seven kills and a block. Jackie Batres had seven kills, 13 digs and an ace.

The Thunderducks hit .375 in the first set and .276 in the second, and pounded 35 kills on the night. Richland held North Lake to a negative .041 attack percentage in the second set, and a minus .035 hitting rate in the third.

Richland will play at Dallas College Eastfield 6 p.m. Thursday.
