Villa Named DAC Newcomer of Year, Richland Earns 7 Honors
DALLAS – Dallas College Richland women's soccer player Linzy Villa was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Newcomer of the Year. She also earned First Team All-DAC honors.
Nailea Lorenzo, Amaris Amaya, Savannah David, Kaylee Haskins and Emily Acosta each received Second Team All-DAC recognition.
A freshman forward from Dallas, Villa scored seven goals, and had two assists for 16 points. She led the Thunderducks in goals and points. She scored in back-to-back games on two occasions during regular season conference action. Villa also scored the first goal the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South District semifinal win over Dallas College Cedar Valley.
A sophomore defender from Fort Worth, Texas, Lorenzo headlined a back line unit that posted three shutouts. She had two assists, both coming in regular season wins over Dallas College Mountain View.
A sophomore defender from Abilene, Texas, also played a key role in Richland's three shutouts. All three clean sheets came during DAC competition. She had an assist in the win at Mountain View.
A freshman midfielder from Dallas, David scored four goals, and had a pair of assists for 10 points. Two of her goals were game winners – one coming on a penalty kick in the South District semifinal win. She had a goal and an assist in the home win over Mountain View.
A sophomore midfielder from Wylie, Texas, Haskins had four goals and an assist for nine points. She scored two goals, including the game winner, in a 3-2 comeback victory over Dallas College North Lake in the first round of DAC play. Haskins followed that up with a goal in the next match – the win at Mountain View.
A sophomore forward from Rockwall, Texas, Acosta finished the season with three goals and a team-best six assists for 12 points. She had two goals and two assists in the 7-1 season-opening win over Northeast Texas Community College. Acosta also had two assists in a 4-1 victory over Dallas College Eastfield.
