No. 9 Richland Battles North Lake to 1-1 Draw

IRVING, Texas – Ninth-ranked Dallas College Richland picked up a late goal to secure a 1-1 draw at Dallas College North Lake Tuesday.

Richland, which re-entered the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings this week, is unbeaten in its last seven games. The Thunderducks moved to 7-2-2 overall, 5-1-2 in the Dallas Athletic Conference. The Blazers moved to 4-5-4 overall, 2-3-3 in the league.

In the 72nd minute, Richland's Emily Acosta scored after a scramble on a corner kick to tie the game at a goal apiece. It was Acosta's fourth goal of the season.

North Lake's Lia Santiago gave the Blazers a 1-0 lead when she ran down a long ball from Melissa Morales in the 10th minute, and banged in a rebound in front of the goal.

The Blazers had seven shots, including six on goal.

North Lake goalkeeper Emely Vargas (4-4-4) made three saves.

Richland hosts Dallas College Mountain View in the final home game of the regular season 7 p.m. Friday in the Alumni Appreciation Game. The Thunderducks will hold a tailgate party as part of the event. Pizza will be served. Fans are encouraged to wear purple and gold.
