LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Richland women's soccer team moved into a tie for first place in the Dallas Athletic Conference after scoring a 1-0 shutout at eighth-ranked Dallas College Cedar Valley Tuesday.
The Thunderducks, which are receiving votes in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III rankings, evened the season series with the Suns. Each team won on the other's home field. Both teams share 6-2-1 overall, 4-1-1 DAC records.
Linzy Villa scored at the 29:35 mark on an assist from Emily Acosta for the game's only goal. It was Villa's team-leading fifth goal of the season. She leads the Thunderducks with 11 points. Acosta has 10 after picking up her team-best fourth assist.
Richland goalkeeper April Reep stopped six shots in the shutout. Selected as the NJCAA Division III Goalie of the Week, Reep improved to 4-3-1 with a 1.20 goals against average, .791 save percentage and three shutouts.
Cedar Valley keepers Olivia Reyna and Serena Aldana each spent a half in goal. Reyna made one save. Aldana stopped five shots.
Richland hosts Dallas College Eastfield (4-7-1, 2-3-1) at 7 p.m. Friday.
