Soccer Doubleheader Kicks off Season Friday
DALLAS – Dallas College Richland will host a soccer doubleheader Friday to kick off the season.
The ninth-ranked women's soccer team meets Northeast Texas Community College 6 p.m. Friday. The No. 1 men's soccer team will host NETCC at 8 p.m.
The Thunderducks women's team went 9-2-3 last year, advancing to the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division III South District championship. They return goalkeeper April Reep, midfielder Zullie Martin, defenders Nailea Lorenzo and Amaris Amaya and forward Emily Acosta.
Richland's men's team went 12-3-1, capturing a sixth consecutive national championship. The Thunderducks return Dallas Athletic Conference Goalkeeper of the Year Arath Valdez, goalie Mikkel Jensen, Second Team All-DAC midfielder Enrique Alvarez, NJCAA Second Team All-American forward Joseph Min, United Soccer Coaches All-East Region forward Alan Rivera, defender Diego Aguilera, defender Ziv Shlimak, Second Team All-DAC forward Aubry Eason and midfielder Diego Herrera.
Richland's women's team will play its first three regular season games at home. The Thunderducks men's team will play its first four at home.
