Thunderducks Duo Named Second Team All-Americans

NJCAA DIII All-Americans 

 

A pair of Dallas College Richland women's soccer players were received National Junior College Athletic Association Division III All-American honors.

Sophomore goalkeeper Ilce Miranda and sophomore defender Emilia Nunez both earned Second Team All-America acclaim.

Miranda, a native of Plano, Texas, went 9-6-1 with five shutouts, 108 saves, a 1.06 goals against average and .864 saves percentage. She ranked fourth in the country in wins, fifth in shutouts, ninth in saves and 10th in GAA, while playing the third most minutes (1,445) in NJCAA DIII.

She had an eye-popping 23 saves in a 1-1 tie with defending national champion Dallas College Brookhaven on Sept. 16. She finished with 10 or more saves in three games, including twice against Brookhaven. 

Nunez, who hails from Rockwall, Texas, had a goal and six assists for eight points as the Thunderducks advanced to the NJCAA DIII Mid-South District championship game. Nunez keyed a back line that posted five shutouts, including back-to-back clean sheets on two occasions.
