Bio

Troy Thrasher was hired as Dallas College Richland women's basketball head coach in July 2023. 

Thrasher was the assistant women's basketball coach at Cowley College from 2013-2023. The Tigers went 216-98 during that time. Cowley advanced to the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Final Four in 2017 and 2018 after winning the Region VI championship in 2016. 

From 2009-13, Thrasher served as the head coach at Brown Mackie College. He became Brown Mackie's all-time winningest head coach. In 2012-13, his team won a school record 14 consecutive games en route to a 23-9 overall mark, which tied the school record for most wins in a season. That team led all junior colleges in Kansas in points per game (75.5). His teams posted three straight 20-win seasons from 2010-13.

From 2007-09, Thrasher was the assistant men's basketball coach at the University of Dallas. Prior to that, he was the head coach at Sacred Heart High School from 2004-07. He coached in the Salina Area All-Star Game from 2004-07. Thrasher was the head coach at RL Paschal High School in 2003-04. He was the assistant coach at Dodge City High School in 2002-03. From 1999-02, he was the head coach at Inman High School. His team finished third in the Class 2A state tournament in 2001. In 2002, Inman won the Heart of America League title. That year, he was named the 2A Boys Southwest Hutchinson News Coach of the Year. In 2000, Inman won the Heart of America League championship.

Thrasher served as the assistant coach at Hutchinson Community College from 1997-99, where his teams advanced to the Region VI Elite Eight in 1998 and 1999. He was also the head men's golf coach at Hutchinson from 1997-99, collecting back-to-back Region VI Division II championships and Coach of the Year honors. 

From 1993-97, he was the assistant coach at Newton High School. His team made a state tournament appearance in 1995. As a high school coach, he went 184-88.

Thrasher aslso served as the assistant coach and assistant general manager with the Dodge City Legend in the United States Basketball League. He also coached with USA Athletes International women's team, and has run Heat of America basketball camps.

Thrasher earned a Bachelor of Science in education from Emporia State University in 1994. He earned a Master of Education in sports administration from Wichita State University in May 2002.
