Beard Named DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's Paris Beard was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 5-foot-7 sophomore guard from Mount Pleasant, Texas, Beard averaged 20.7 points per game in three games last week, putting up a season-high 33 in a 98-89 overtime win over Connors State College to end the week. She was 11 of 24, including 3 of 5 from three-point range, in the win over the National Junior College Athletic Association Division I opponent. She also had 13 rebounds, six assists, five steals and a block in the win.

Beard averaged 8.3 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 2.3 steals per game as the NJCAA Division III No. 11 Thunderducks went 2-1 during the week. Beard had 22 points on 11 of 22 shooting, 10 rebounds, five assists and six steals in a 61-55 victory over East Texas Baptist University Junior Varsity to begin the week.

This season, she's averaging 19.2 points, 5.7 rebounds, 4.3 assists and 3.6 steals per game for a Richland team that is off to an 8-3 start. The Thunderducks are off for the holiday break until January 10 when they host the University of Arkansas Cossatot.
