Beard Named First Team All-American
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland women's basketball's Paris Beard was named a National Junior College Athletic Association Division III First Team All-American.
A 5-foot-5 freshman guard from Mount Pleasant, Texas, Beard averaged 25.2 points per game, and shot 58.6 percent from the field, both of which ranked second in the country. She also averaged 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 steals per game. Beard scored over 40 points in three games, including a season-high 44 against Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity Feb. 12. She reached double figures in all but one of the 17 games, scoring nine in the one exception.
She was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Year.
Beard set school records for points in a game (44) and field goals in a game (17). She had 20 or more points in 13 games.
