Beard Repeats as DAC Player of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's Paris Beard was selected as the Dallas Athletic Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week.

It is the second consecutive week and the third time this season she has won the league honor.

A 5-foot-7 freshman guard from Mount Pleasant, Texas, Beard broke the school record for points in a game for the third time this season, scoring 44 in a 75-72 loss to Southwestern Assemblies of God University Junior Varsity. She also matched her school record for field goals in a game, going 17 of 25 from the floor. Beard added nine rebounds, seven steals and four assists, and was 9-for-12 from the free throw line.

It was the second straight game she scored over 40 points, and it marked the third time this season she's done so. Beard is averaging 25.5 points per game, which leads the DAC, and is second in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III. Her 57.5 percent field goal percentage also leads the conference, and ranks fifth among NJCAA Division III leaders.

Richland (5-10, 1-1 DAC) will play at No. 7 Dallas College Cedar Valley (13-5, 2-0) at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
