Thunderducks Women's Basketball Drops Home Opener
Dallas College Richland point guard Onyinyechi Okehi led the Thunderducks with 26 points, but it was not enough to overcome the hot shooting of Shorter College in an 86-65 loss in Friday's home opener.
Logan Ross had 15 points, and Savannah Lawson added 11 on a combined 8 of 20 field goal shooting. Ross was 7-for-8 from the free throw line, and matched Kloe Williams with eight rebounds. Lawson and Yvonna Drayton, who scored nine points, each had six.
Shorter College used a 14-2 run to close out the first half. That was all Shorter would need the rest of the night. The Bulldogs never trailed in the game.
Richland hosts National Junior College Athletic Association Division I Jacksonville College at 6 p.m. Tuesday.
