Rodriguez was born on August 15, 1987, and grew up in Oak Cliff, Texas. He played collegiate soccer at Dallas College Richland and helped secure Richland's fourth national championship in 2006.
After his time at Richland, Rodriguez transferred to Midwestern State University. During his senior year at MSU, Rodriguez led the team in goals with 17 goals scored. Also, he received NCAA Division 2 First Team All-American honors.
After MSU, Rodriguez played for the NTX Rayados and helped lead the team to a record nine straight US Open Cup appearances.
Outside of Sidekicks, Rodriguez is the assistant men's soccer coach at Richland College where he has a 56-0-2 record while coaching the team. Rodriguez is also a physical education teacher at Stevens Park Elementary in Oak Cliff, Texas.
