Richland Regains Sole Possession of First Place

DALLAS – Dallas College Richland's 12th-ranked men's basketball team regained sole possession of first place in the Dallas Athletic Conference after coming back to beat then-No. 16 Dallas College North Lake, 57-46, Saturday.

The win moved Richland a game ahead of the Blazers to wrap up the second round of conference play. Richland (16-8, 8-2 DAC) will play at Dallas College Brookhaven (8-17, 5-5) to begin the third round of league action 1 p.m. Saturday. Five games remain in the regular season.

The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament is set for Feb. 25-March. The top seed will host the semifinal and championship rounds. The women's title game will also be held at the site of the DAC men's champion on Saturday, March 1.

North Lake (12-13, 7-3) led 28-23 at halftime, but Richland outscored the Blazers, 34-18, in the second half.

Barack Holland had 18 points, going 4-for-4 from the free throw line. Mannie Odo had 12 points, eight rebounds, two steals and a block. They were the only two Thunderducks in double figures. North Lake's Autavius Hobbs had 15 points, going 7-for-9 from the free throw line. David Clower added 10 points, sinking 6-for-8 from the free throw stripe.

Richland was 19 of 53 from the floor. North Lake hit 11 of 46 field goals. The Blazers outrebounded the Thunderducks, 39-30.

Richland's Cjay Ingram scored eight points, and had three steals off the bench. Jackson Hodge added eight rebounds. North Lake's Alex Gilmore grabbed eight boards, and Anden Holmes scored eight points on 2 of 5 three-point shooting.

North Lake's 11 field goals were a season low. Richland's 19 field goals also were a season low.
