Thunderducks Blitz Suns, Remain in First Place

LANCASTER, Texas – Dallas College Richland's 10th-ranked men's basketball team bounced back from its first conference loss with a 96-76 win over Dallas College Cedar Valley Wednesday night on the road.

The Thunderducks (14-7, 6-1 Dallas Athletic Conference) hold a one-game lead for first place in the league entering Saturday's 1 p.m. matinee at Dallas College Mountain View (9-13, 2-5).

DJ Willis scored 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting, and had four steals to pace five players in double figures for Richland, which hit 52.4 percent of its field goals. Barack Holland and Cjay Ingram each scored 12 points, and Elijah Brown and Trey Wright had 13 and 10 off the bench, respectively. Holland added four assists, and Ingram grabbed seven boards, and had two steals.

Richland outscored Cedar Valley, 48-28, in the first half to put the game away.

Chris Greenwood finished with 18 points and five assists, and Charlie Gutierrez had 10 points and a block for the Suns. Armani Reese had seven rebounds, four blocks and five points, while Coreon Hardy and Marcel Hurst each added eight points – both sinking 6 of 8 free throws.

The Thunderducks outrebounded the Suns, 38-26. Richland recorded 19 assists to Cedar Valley's six.
