Thunderducks Beat Third NJCAA DI Opponent of Season
PARIS, Texas – Dallas College Richland's 13th-ranked men's basketball team beat Paris Junior College, 70-66, Tuesday in the second of two meetings against the Dragons.
The Thunderducks, who compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III, avenged an overtime loss to NJCAA Division I Paris two weeks earlier with the win on the road.
It is Richland's third victory over an NJCAA Division I opponent this season.
The Thunderducks (6-5) built a 10-point halftime lead, and held off the Dragons (6-2) to snap Paris' five-game winning streak.
Barack Holland scored 22 points on 7 of 14 shooting, grabbed five rebounds, and had two steals. Cjay Ingram had 18 points, six rebounds and two steals, while shooting 6 of 14. Elijah Brown hit three of four 3-point field goals, and finished with 12 points and five rebounds.
Richland was 8 of 16 from behind the 3-point arc, and held Paris to 4 of 12 from long distance.
Anthony Breland had 17 points, going 5 of 10 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line to pace the Dragons. Kordrick Turner and Tylar Hankamer each had 12 points, and Amari Brown 10.
Richland's Nehemiah Jones had eight boards and two blocks, Trey Wright had five assists and three steals, and Brian Williams six points and six rebounds.
The Thunderducks open the first of three rounds of Dallas Athletic Conference play at Dallas College Brookhaven 6 p.m. Wednesday.
