Trahan Named National Player of Week

Dallas College Richland's Ed Trahan was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Men's Basketball Player of the Week.

A 6-foot-4 sophomore forward from Cypress, Texas, Trahan averaged 20 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game, while shooting 67 percent from the field as the Thunderducks won three Dallas Athletic Conference games last week.

He scored 24 points, going 12 of 15 from the floor, and pulled down 13 rebounds in the then-No. 9 Thunderducks' 109-105 victory at then No. 8 Dallas College Eastfield. Trahan had 17 points, 10 rebounds and a steal, while shooting 7 of 11, in a 92-61 win over Dallas College Mountain View. He had 19 points on 7 of 13 shooting, grabbed eight boards, had five assists and a steal in an 81-72 win over Dallas College Brookhaven.

Trahan entered the week averaging 14.4 points, 8.8 rebounds and 1.1 steals per game.

Richland rose one spot to No. 8 in the NJCAA Division III rankings this week, and is coming off an 81-79 road win at Dallas College Cedar Valley Wednesday. The Thunderducks (13-8, 5-2 DAC) play at Dallas College North Lake (20-6, 7-0) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
