
Richland Coasts to Run-Rule Win over Brookhaven in District Tourney

MESQUITE, Texas – Dallas College Richland jumped all over Dallas College Brookhaven, and scored in each of its four at-bats to coast to a 14-1 win Friday in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III South Central District Tournament.
The sixth-ranked Thunderducks (38-18) meet No. 2 Dallas College Eastfield (45-11) in the semifinals 1 p.m. Saturday.
Richland scored eight runs in the first inning, and added two in each of its next three to put the game away in five innings.
Teagan Peeples was 2-for-3 with a home run and five RBI, and Trey Smith and Jouseph Gelpi each had three hits in four plate appearances for the Thunderducks. Smith drove in a run, and Gelpi had a stolen base.
Richland starter Bron Farr (10-2) went four innings, allowing seven hits, a run and no walks, and struck out three in the win. Devin Jennings worked a spotless fifth to lock down the victory.
Kelton Phillips and Eimir Perez both had two hits, and combined to drive in five runs in a game the Thunderducks pounded 14 hits and drove 13. Five Richland players had multiple hits.
The win was Richland's second straight while scoring in double digits, and marked the fourth straight win over Brookhaven this season. The Thunderducks have beaten the Bears in six of the seven meetings this year.
