Hockemeyer Named National Player of Week

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Dallas College Richland's Nick Hockemeyer was named the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Player of the Week.

A freshman outfielder from Fort Wayne, Indiana, Hockemeyer batted .643, going 9-for-14 with three home runs, two doubles, 11 runs batted in and six runs scored as No. 5 Richland swept three games from Dallas College Cedar Valley last week. He strung together three hits in each of the wins, homered once in the opener and twice more in the finale, and ripped two doubles in the second game of the series. Hockemeyer drove in a season-high six runs in the 26-10 Game 3 victory, and had two or more RBI in each of the three games.

Hockemeyer is hitting .406 with 16 doubles and 45 RBI this season.

Richland (26-11, 12-3) will host Dallas College Mountain View (11-20, 1-14) at 1 p.m. Thursday in a game that was moved to the Thunderducks' park, following this week's rain.
