Smoot Repeats as DAC Pitcher of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's Jacob Smoot was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Pitcher of the Week for the second straight week.

A sophomore left hander from Burleson, Texas, Smoot went the distance in an 11-1 seven-inning run-rule victory over National Junior College Athletic Association Division II No. 2-ranked Dallas College Eastfield last week. He allowed one run on six hits and one walk, while striking out four. It was Smoot's second straight win on the mound, and his third in the last four outings. He is unbeaten in that four-game stretch.

Smoot takes a 5-1 record with a 2.77 earned run average and 37 strikeouts into this week.

Fourth-ranked Richland (19-11, 6-3 DAC) begins a three-game series with Dallas College North Lake (14-14, 6-3) Wednesday at noon. The series is set for Wednesday-Friday due to Holy Week this week.
