Smith Named DAC Hitter of Week

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College Richland's Trey Smith was named the Dallas Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week.

A freshman outfielder from San Antonio, Smith batted .462, going 6-for-13 with four home runs, nine runs batted in, a double, eight runs scored and two walks as the 14th-ranked Thunderducks went 3-1 this past weekend. Smith belted a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth in the final game of the four-game series, triggering a six-run inning in an 11-9 comeback win over Frank Phillips College. He was 2-for-4 with three RBI in that win. In a 25-23 loss to Frank Phillips, Smith crushed three home runs and drove in four runs, going 3-for-3 with five runs scored. He was 1-for-4 with a double, an RBI and a walk in a 13-10 win.

Smith is hitting .426 with six home runs, 22 RBI and seven doubles this season.

Following Monday's game at Murray State College, Richland will host Dallas College Mountain View at noon Wednesday to open DAC play. The Thunderducks play the final two games of the series at Mountain View Friday and Saturday.
