No. 12 Richland Rallies Past No. 2 Eastfield

DALLAS – Aaron Biediger had a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the ninth inning as No. 12 Dallas College Richland rallied to beat No. 2 Dallas College Eastfield, 3-2, Friday.

The Thunderducks (26-17, 14-6 Dallas Athletic Conference) trailed 2-0 entering their last at-bat, but strung a few hits together, and used some small ball to complete the comeback.

"A guy on third, and we needed to score him, and I did what I needed to do to get him in," Biediger said after collecting his lone hit of the game.

Wes Flatt led off the inning with a single. Jouseph Gelpi reached on an error. Nick Chalman singled to load the bases. Jadon Fratus had a two-run single to tie the game one at-bat before Biediger's heroics.

It was Richland's second win over Eastfield this year, both of which have come at home. The rubber game of the three-game series is set for 12 p.m. Saturday at Richland. Eastfield (31-10, 16-4) won the first game at home Wednesday.

The Harvester Bees scored both of their runs in the fourth inning. Angel Rodriguez tripled, and scored on Jayden Morgan's RBI double. Morgan scored an unearned run after River Curs singled. The Thunderducks cut down a runner at the plate when the Harvester Bees tried push another one across the plate, using the sacrifice bunt. Richland starter Kyler Howard got out of the inning without any more damage.

Howard went 7.1 innings, allowing seven hits, two runs, one earned and four walks in the no decision. Carson Caudill earned the win in relief, giving up one hit, no runs and no walks over the final inning-and-two-thirds.  

Fratus went 2-for-4 with a double and a walk. Seth Markham and Will Bomersbach both were 2-for-3 with a walk. One of Markham's hits was a double.

Rodriguez went 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. He was the only Eastfield batter with multiple hits.

Eastfield starter Marcus Peters allowed two hits, no runs and four walks, and struck out five in four innings, but did not factor in the decision.

Richland has a one-game lead over Dallas College Cedar Valley for second place in the DAC entering Saturday's series finale with Eastfield.
