Brookhaven Wraps up 7th Straight League Title

FARMERS BRANCH, Texas – Seventh Heaven.

No. 2 Dallas College Brookhaven beat No. 3 Dallas College Richland, 1-0, Friday night in a Top-5 National Junior College Athletic Association Division III women's soccer battle that lived up to the hype.

The win handed Brookhaven its seventh consecutive Dallas Athletic Conference or Metro Athletic Conference regular season title. The league changed names in the Fall of 2018.

Kaley Robison's penalty kick goal in the 85th minute was the difference in a game where Brookhaven (9-2-1, 8-0-1 DAC) outshot Richland (8-1-2, 7-1-1) on goal by a 13-1 margin. Thunderducks goalkeeper Paige Elliott was forced to make 11 saves before being replaced by Hannah Harris after 85 minutes of work. Harris made one save in mop-up duty. Bears keeper Emma Garces stopped one of the two shots the Thunderducks attempted in picking up her third solo shutout and sixth combined clean sheet.

Richland, which allowed its first goal since a 2-1 home win over Dallas College North Lake Sept. 22, suffered its first loss since last year's 1-0 setback to Brookhaven in the National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Mid-South District Championship game.

The Bears snapped the Thunderducks' six-game shutout streak, dating back to the one-goal win over North Lake. Brookhaven is on a run of three consecutive clean sheets, and has blanked every team in the DAC but North Lake, following a 4-1 win over the Blazers Oct. 3. Brookhaven has outscored DAC opponents, 42-1.

Brookhaven hosts Dallas College Cedar Valley (9-4-1, 5-3-1) on Sophomore Night 6 p.m. Tuesday to conclude the regular season. The Bears will host the NJCAA Division III South District Tournament Oct. 26-28.
