Blazers Clinch DAC Regular Season Title

DeKyre Fuller scored 16 points in the win over Dallas College Richland Saturday.

IRVING, Texas – Dallas College North Lake's second-ranked men's basketball team wrapped up the Dallas Athletic Conference regular season title after beating No. 8 Dallas College Richland, 83-55, Saturday.

North Lake (21-6, 8-0 DAC) has a three-game lead over Richland and Dallas College Eastfield, who are tied for second in the league with two games remaining. 

The Blazers, who own the No. 2 spot in the NJCAA DIII rankings, have won 17 consecutive games, and improved to 13-0 at home this season.

North Lake halted Richland's four-game win streak. The Blazers held the Thunderducks (13-9, 5-3) to 21 points in the first half.

Jakob Zenon scored 23 points, going 8 of 12 from the field, including 5 of 8 from three-point range, and had four rebounds and two steals for the Blazers. DeKyre Fuller shot 6 of 8 from the floor to score 16 points. He knocked down all three of his triple tries. Da'Ryan Williams finished with 10 points, seven rebounds, four assists and a steal.

Darion Jones had nine points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Brandon Lawrence had eight points, seven assists and three steals. Randy Woolf added eight points, four rebounds, four assists and three steals.

North Lake shot 57 percent from the field and 61 percent from three-point range. Richland shot 44.7 percent, but went just 4 of 17 from long range.

Richland's Ed Trahan had 14 points and 10 boards, and Taven Washington scored 11 points, sinking all five of his free throws.

North Lake will host Dallas College Cedar Valley 6 p.m. Wednesday. Richland hosts Eastfield in a pivotal game to determine the league's No. 2 seed to the postseason tournament.
