Richland Women's Hoops Gearing up For Stretch Run
RICHLAND WOMEN's BASKETBALL SCHEDULE
DALLAS – Dallas College Richland women's basketball team begins a three-game homestand as the final push for the Dallas Athletic Conference regular season title.
The 14th-ranked Thunderducks (12-7, 1-1 DAC) will host East Texas Baptist University's Junior Varsity 5 p.m. Monday before a key DAC matchup with No. 13 Dallas College Mountain View (10-12, 1-2). The Thunderducks finish the homestand next Monday against North American University.
Richland fell at Mountain View, 71-54, in the first meeting. The Thunderducks bounced back from that loss to beat then-No. 5 Dallas College Cedar Valley to even the league record amongst the three DAC teams.
If the Thunderducks beat Mountain View in Thursday's game, they will play at No. 8 Cedar Valley (9-9, 2-1) for the league regular season title the following Thursday.
Richland's Paris Beard is averaging 17.6 points, 3.4 assists and 6.8 rebounds, while shooting 41.2 percent from the field. Sanaa Darensberg is scoring 11.2 points and grabbing 4.4 boards per game. Aspen Hicks is averaging 9.6 points and 5.8 rebounds, while shooting just under 40 percent from the field and 73 percent from the free throw line. Mahogany Jackson-Walker is averaging 7.2 points and 4.5 rebounds, while shooting around 42 percent from the floor and 86.4 percent at the free throw line.
The National Junior College Athletic Association Division III Central District tournament is set for Feb. 26-March 1.
